Que Lennon me perdone

8 de diciembre, no recuerdo el año, pero poníamos en casa el árbol de navidad mientras sonaban Los Beatles y hablaban del aniversario de la muerte de Lennon, un primo me contó que se enteró de la muerte de John a mitad de una transmisión televisiva de futbol americano, no recuerda qué equipos jugaban, pero jamás se le olvidará que Lennon había dejado de imaginar.

La sangre en la banqueta del edificio Dakota fue el ultimo vestigio de una generación que soñaba con la revolución que tal vez nunca llegó. El mundo ideal de John Winston Lennon sigue siendo un sueño, y lo malo que el no era el único soñador. Mark David Chapman says: the dream is over.

Otro 8 de diciembre mientras buscaba un setlist de Deftones en internet al abrir el website de la banda encontré una enorme foto de Dimebag Darrell con su año de nacimiento y el de su muerte, 1966-2004. Fui directo a Yahoo (Google aun no era tan famoso) y puse su nombre, y la mala noticia apareció en primer plano.

Darrell había muerto gracias a un psicópata que lo culpó, según dicen, por la separación de Pantera y por haberle plagiado canciones. Un maldito marine norteamericano armado subió al escenario le disparó en la cabeza mientras estaba en el escenario. Solo una nota en las noticias, la imprecisión informativa y López Dòriga diciendo que un "rockero" había muerto.

Ese día sentí un vacío, porque a ese sujeto de barba roja y cabello largo lo había visto tocar 4 veces de diferentes distancias, la mejor, aquella que lo vi hasta enfrente, siendo aplastado contra la valla del palacio de los deportes en el concierto más escandaloso y gratificante de mi vida. Dimebag y su Wasburn de rayos azul haciendo el solo de Cementery gates es algo que siempre quedará en mi memoria. Dimebag y su estilo y la forma de hacer pitch bending y sus solos y riffs y su actitud, su tatuaje de Ace Frehley y su forma de tocar, y como dice el final de Strength beyond strength:

"Forever stronger than all"

Ya son 5 años de aquel día, y que John Lennon me perdone, pero extraño más a Dimebag.
